House Committee approves substitute bill on mobile number portability

The House Committee on Information and Communications Technology approved on March 14, 2018,  the substitute bill on Mobile Number Portability, a legislative measure which sought to provide mobile telephone subscribers the option to retain their numbers even if they switch to another service provider or even if they switch from mobile postpaid account to a mobile prepaid account and vice versa.

One of the original authors of this measure is Congressman Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco of Marinduque. With the counterpart measure, sponsored by Senator Win Gatchalian, being approved on third reading in the Senate, mobile subscribers can hope that soon enough this House Bill will be enacted into law.
